Betty Harford \u2014 the actress best known for her roles in the \u201980s primetime soap opera, Dynasty<\/em><\/a>, and the \u201970s drama, The Paper Chase<\/em><\/a>\u00a0\u2014 is dead at 98.<\/p>\n

On November 2, she died in Santa Barbara, California, her friend, Wendy Mitchell, told The Hollywood Reporter<\/a> in an article published on Sunday, November 9. Her cause of death was not publicly shared.<\/p>\n

Mitchell also wrote via Facebook<\/a>, \u201cBetty\u2019s son contacted me this morning and Betty Harford Naszody passed away peacefully with family at her side, noon on November 2, 2025, she was 98.\u201d<\/p>\n

Harford memorably played Mrs. Nottingham, John Houseman<\/a>\u2018s secretary, on The Paper Chase<\/em> in 1978 and 1979, and Mrs. Gunnerson, the Carrington family cook, on Dynasty<\/em> from 1981 to 1989. She also returned for the 1991 reunion mini-series. Additionally, she had TV credits in shows like The Twilight Zone<\/em><\/a>, Gunsmoke,<\/em> and The Alfred Hitchcock Hour<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n

Movie-wise, Harford was best known for The Wild and the Innocent<\/a><\/em> (1959), and as Gloria, the sister of Natalie Wood<\/a>\u2018s character, in\u00a0Inside Daisy Clover<\/a><\/em> (1965). She also appeared in Spartacus<\/em>,\u00a0Signpost to Murder<\/em>,\u00a0and\u00a0Win, Place or Steal<\/em>.<\/p>\n

On X,\u00a0 one fan tribute read<\/a>, \u201cFarewell to the wonderful Betty Harford, the foul-mouthed cook of the Carringtons (the legendary lamb stew for Blake) in the nine seasons of Dynasty<\/em>. American actress, she stood out in film as the sister of Natalie Wood\u2019s character.\u201d<\/p>\n

Harford was preceded in death by her first husband, Oliver Andrews, who died in 1978, and her second husband, actor S\u00e1ndor Nasz\u00f3dy, who died in 1996. She is survived by her son, Chris, and her grandsons.<\/p>\n
