Sombr<\/a> made his Saturday Night Live<\/em> debut as the musical guest on Nov. 8.<\/p>\n The 20-year-old singer-songwriter performed two songs \u2014 \u201c12 to 12\u201d and \u201cBack to Friends\u201d \u2014 from his debut album, I Barely Know Her<\/em>, which reached No. 10 on the Billboard 200 in September.<\/p>\n More from Billboard<\/strong><\/p>\n Dressed in a sharp red suit and black shirt, the New York City native opened the show with \u201c12 to 12\u201d alongside a full band, then returned later to perform \u201cBack to Friends\u201d from behind the piano before stepping out for an emotional delivery.<\/p>\n Sombr, who writes and produces all of his own songs, is having a breakout year. His debut album, I Barely Know Her<\/em>, arrived in August and produced his first three Billboard Hot 100 hits: the top 20 singles \u201cBack to Friends\u201d (No. 12) and \u201cUndressed\u201d (No. 16), as well as \u201c12 to 12,\u201d which peaked at No. 41.<\/p>\n The musician, whose real name is Shane Boose, recently earned a Grammy nomination<\/a> for best new artist. He recently wrapped the sold-out North American leg<\/a> of his first-ever headlining tour, which spanned 31 shows across the U.S. and Canada. Every venue was upgraded to meet demand, with multiple cities adding extra dates, including a triumphant hometown finale in New York City.<\/p>\n The latest episode of the long-running\u00a0NBC sketch comedy show also featured first-time host Nikki Glaser<\/a>.
