MAGA favorite Sydney Sweeney<\/strong> had a feeble opening weekend at the box office for her inspirational boxing film, \u201cChristy.\u201d<\/p>\n

The film was released in just over 2,000 theaters nationwide, according to<\/a> The Wrap<\/em>, and grossed only $1.3 million \u201cfor a per-theater average of just $649.\u201d<\/p>\n

That puts it among the top 10 worst openings for a new release, Box Office Mojo<\/em> reported, adding that \u201cthree of the films below it\u201d were \u201creleased during the pandemic period from April 2020 to May 2021.\u201d<\/p>\n

In the film, Sweeney stars as as domestic abuse survivor and pro boxer Christy Martin<\/strong>, who won the first women\u2019s boxing pay-per-view main event. In 2010, Martin survived a murder attempt by her former coach-turned-husband.<\/p>\n

Sweeney reported that she gained 34 pounds in order to develop a boxer\u2019s physique for the role.<\/p>\n

The actress came to MAGA\u2019s attention when she posed for an American Eagle jeans ad that touted her \u201cgood genes\u201d in a play on words that outraged some on the far-left over notions of white \u201cgenetic superiority.\u201d<\/p>\n

After conservative pundits played up the left\u2019s disapproval, it came to light that Sweeney is a registered Republican, although she hasn\u2019t said whether she supports Donald Trump.<\/strong><\/p>\n

When a reporter informed the president of Sweeney\u2019s political affiliation, Trump did not try to hide his delight.<\/p>\n

\u201cOh, now I love her ad!\u201d Trump joked.<\/a> \u201cIs that right? Is Sydney Sweeney? You\u2019d be surprised at how many people are Republicans. That\u2019s one I wouldn\u2019t have known, but I\u2019m glad you told me that\u2026If Sydney Sweeney is a registered Republican, I think her ad is fantastic.\u201d<\/p>\n

Fox News reported that Sweeney fans now want her to run for office, with MAGA podcaster Benny Johnson<\/strong> telling Fox News\u2019s Jesse Watters<\/strong>, \u201cShe put the final nail in the coffin of woke. People aren\u2019t doing this anymore\u2026and that\u2019s why people are tweeting today, Jesse, Vance-Sweeney 2028.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI would love it!\u201d Watters exclaimed.<\/p>\n
