Television figure Quentin Willson has died. He was 68.<\/p>\n
The British TV host, best known for hosting Top Gear <\/em>and Britain\u2019s Worst Driver,<\/em> passed away peacefully yesterday after a brief battle with lung cancer.<\/p>\n A statement provided by his family said he died \u201cpeacefully, surrounded by his family\u201d while describing him as a \u201cnational treasure\u201d and \u201ctrue consumer champion.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cQuentin brought the joy of motoring, from combustion to electric, into our living rooms,\u201d the statement read. \u201cThe void he has left can never be filled. His knowledge was not just learned but lived; a library of experience now beyond our reach.\u201d<\/p>\n Willson hosted Top Gear<\/em>, the wildly popular automobile-related series, from 1991 to 2001 alongside co-hosts Jeremy Clarkson and James May. <\/p>\n He was known for being the show\u2019s expert on used cars\u2014and for being a mischievous wise guy who dropped scathing remarks every few minutes all throughout his time on the series.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m far away so I\u2019ve only just heard that Quentin Willson has died.
