Actor Jeremy Renner<\/strong> has found himself at the center of new controversy following allegations from filmmaker Yi Zhou<\/strong>. After days of online speculation and public statements, Renner has officially responded to the claims. The Mayor of Kingstown star addressed the situation through his legal team, who issued a firm denial of Zhou\u2019s \u201cmisconduct\u201d allegations.<\/p>\n Jeremy Renner has denied allegations<\/a> made by Chinese filmmaker Yi Zhou. She claimed the actor sent her \u201cunsolicited pornographic images\u201d and later allegedly \u201cthreatened to call\u201d immigration authorities on her.<\/p>\n In a statement to PEOPLE<\/a> on November 7, Renner\u2019s attorney Marty Singer described Zhou\u2019s claims as \u201cfalse, outrageous and highly defamatory.\u201d The statement alleges that Zhou fabricated the story after Renner \u201crejected her romantic advances\u201d and declined to promote her projects online.<\/p>\n According to Zhou, she and Renner collaborated on the documentary Chronicles of Disney and an animated film. In a series of Instagram posts, she alleged that Renner sent her explicit messages in June, and, when confronted, \u201cthreatened to call immigration\/ICE\u201d on her. Zhou further stated that she felt \u201cfrauded by love,\u201d claiming the actor \u201cforced himself on me the first day we met\u201d and continued to send \u201cobscene photos without consent.\u201d<\/p>\n Renner\u2019s legal team maintains that the two met twice, first in July at a Reno, Nevada hotel, where Singer said they had a \u201cbrief consensual encounter,\u201d and again in August.
