SINGAPORE, Nov 10 \u2014 Hong Kong acting legend Tony Leung Chiu-wai is headed to the 36th Singapore International Film Festival (SGIFF), joining a glittering line-up at Singapore\u2019s biggest film event, reported The Straits Times.<\/p>\n
The 63-year-old actor will appear in a dialogue session titled In Conversation With Tony Leung on November 28, followed by a special screening of his latest feature Silent Friend on November 29.<\/p>\n
He will be joined by the film\u2019s Hungarian director Ildik\u00f3 Enyedi, who clinched the Fipresci Prize at the 82nd Venice Film Festival earlier this year.<\/p>\n
Silent Friend is a German-French-Hungarian production that unfolds across three eras in a German university, exploring humanity\u2019s search for connection with nature and one another.<\/p>\n
Leung stars as a Hong Kong neurologist whose study on infant brainwaves is disrupted by the Covid-19 lockdown, prompting him to turn his attention to an ancient ginkgo tree.<\/p>\n
The film also features French actress L\u00e9a Seydoux and Swiss talent Luna Wedler.<\/p>\n
It premiered in Venice on September 5 to strong critical reception, cementing Leung\u2019s place as one of Asia\u2019s most enduring cinematic icons.<\/p>\n
According to The Straits Times, Leung\u2019s dialogue session will be moderated by Singapore actress and festival ambassador Rebecca Lim.<\/p>\n
The event will be held at Marina Bay Sands\u2019 Hibiscus Ballroom and conducted in English and Cantonese, with English interpretation provided.<\/p>\n
