I Love LA<\/strong> showrunner and actress Rachel Sennott has shared how Ayo Edebiri<\/strong> was cast in the show. Edebiri, known for her role as Sydney Adamu in The Bear, makes an unexpected appearance in Episode 2 of the new comedy series.<\/p>\n During an interview with Deadline<\/a>, Rachel Sennott and her co-writer Emma Barrie shared how they cast the Emmy-winning actress in Episode 2 of I Love LA.<\/p>\n \u201cI always want my friends in stuff so that I can hang out with them,\u201d Sennott shared. \u201cI\u2019m like, \u2018If you come shoot for two days, then we can have dinner,\u2019 because she\u2019s so busy all the time. I just love her. She\u2019s so talented, so funny, so skilled as an actress, too,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n Sennott had previously worked with Edebiri on the 2023 teen comedy, Bottoms. This made it easy for her to work with Edebiri again and develop the character. \u201c[I] basically got on the phone and jammed with her and just sort of pitched the idea\u2026 to make this ridiculous, fun character together,\u201d the 30-year-old actress explained.<\/p>\n Furthermore, they also revealed that it was Edebiri\u2019s idea to make the character British.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s unlike anything she\u2019s done in a while. So absurd. And she was like, \u2018I love it. Can I be British?\u201d Barrie recalled. Sennott then added, \u201cWe were like, \u2018If you want to be British, you can be British.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n Edebiri\u2019s character, British popstar Mimi Rush, appears in Episode 2, titled \u201cRoger & Munchy.\u201d In the episode, Mimi obsesses over getting Zendaya to play the role of her mother in her new music video. But when the Challengers actress declines, Mimi orders her team to find some dirt on Zendaya to use against her.<\/p>\n I Love LA is an HBO comedy series that centers on a group of close friends who reunite after a long time as they navigate their lives\u2019 ups and downs together.
