Zakk Wylde<\/a> has revealed that he and late legend Ozzy Osbourne<\/a> were planning to record a new album together prior to the Black Sabbath<\/a> frontman\u2019s death on July 22 this year.<\/p>\n

Speaking to local New Jersey site NJ<\/em><\/a>, Wylde being a Jersey boy himself, the Black Label Society singer reflected at length on his frequent collaborations with Ozzy, including his farewell concert in his native Birmingham, UK, on July 5. <\/p>\n

\u201cJust the fact that he willed himself to do that thing,\u201d Wylde said. \u201cWhatever things that we\u2019ve run into, any obstacles or whatever, it\u2019s always just a speed bump and we\u2019ll get through it. So I wasn\u2019t thinking, \u2018Oh, this is the last time I\u2019m going to see Oz.\u2019 I just figured we\u2019ll do the gig, and then who knows? You always stay positive on all this stuff.\u201d<\/p>\n

Wylde and Osbourne were frequent creative partners over the years, with Wylde replacing outgoing guitarist Jake E. Lee in 1987 and going to perform on No Rest for the Wicked<\/em> (1988), No More Tears<\/em> (1991), and Ozzmosis<\/em> (1995) before a brief interregnum until 2001, when Wylde returned for Down To Earth<\/em>. Since then, their collaborations were steady if infrequent, up until Ozzy\u2019s passing.<\/p>\n

Wylde went on to describe that Ozzy was at least ruminating on making an entire album together. \u201cHe was texting me, \u2018Zakk, let\u2019s do another record. Because I really loved it when you were going through your Allman Brothers, Skynyrd phase when we did No More Tears<\/em>, it\u2019s heavy but it\u2019s more melodic, it\u2019s not pummeling heavy,\u2019\u201d Wylde said. \u201cSo I said, \u2018Alright Oz, whatever you want.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

Whether such plans ever went beyond a few text messages back and forth is anyone\u2019s guess at this stage, but this another one to pop in the ever-growing What Might Have Been file. <\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
