Jimmy Kimmel<\/a>\u2019s wife, Molly McNearney, has revealed she\u2019s cut ties with certain family members who support President Donald Trump<\/a>, noting it\u2019s put a \u201cstrain\u201d on her relationships with relatives.<\/p>\n Appearing on the November 6 episode of the We Can Do Hard Things<\/em><\/a> podcast alongside her husband, McNearney was asked what it\u2019s like coming from a conservative family and now being part of a show at odds with Trump<\/a> and the Republican party.<\/p>\n McNearney, who serves as executive producer and co-head writer on Jimmy Kimmel Live!<\/em><\/a>, revealed how she grew up \u201cin a very conservative, Republican\u201d household but changed her political beliefs after moving away from her hometown of St. Louis and meeting \u201cpeople from different backgrounds.\u201d<\/p>\n However, many of her relatives remain staunch Republicans, which she said has \u201cdefinitely been challenging.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cIt hurts me so much because of the personal relationship I now have where my husband is out there fighting this man,\u201d McNearney said, per People<\/em><\/a>, referring to Kimmel\u2019s very public feud with the President.<\/a><\/p>\n She continued, \u201cAnd to me, them voting for Trump is them not voting for my husband and me and our family,\u201d adding that \u201cunfortunately,\u201d she has \u201clost relationships with people in my family because of it.\u201d<\/p>\n The rivalry between Kimmel and Trump heated up in September after ABC temporarily pulled Jimmy Kimmel Live!<\/em> off the air<\/a> due to comments the late-night host made about the fatal shooting of Charlie Kirk<\/a>. At the time, Trump celebrated the move<\/a>, saying, \u201cKimmel has ZERO talent.\u201d<\/p>\n McNearney said the situation has gone beyond \u201cRepublican versus Democrat\u201d for her, becoming instead about \u201cfamily values.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s really hard for me because I grew up believing in these Christian ideals of taking care of the sick and taking care of the poor and I don\u2019t see that happening with this Republican party,\u201d she shared. \u201cI feel like I\u2019m kind of in constant conflict and I\u2019m angry all the time, which isn\u2019t healthy at all.\u201d<\/p>\n McNearney admitted that when she sees \u201cterrible stories\u201d every day, she is \u201cimmediately mad at certain aunts, uncles, cousins who put him in power. And it\u2019s really hard.\u201d<\/p>\n She even confessed to writing emails to family before the 2024 election, \u201cbegging\u201d them not to support Trump and giving \u201c10 reasons not to vote for this guy.\u201d But she \u201ceither got ignored by 90% of them or got truly insane responses from a few. It\u2019s definitely caused a strain.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019ve definitely pulled in closer with the family that I feel more aligned with,\u201d McNearney added. \u201cAnd I hate that this has happened, you know? It feels silly. You know, part of me goes, \u2018Don\u2019t let politics get in the way.\u2019 But to me, this isn\u2019t politics. It\u2019s truly values. And we just were not aligned anymore.\u201d<\/p>\n
