Nathan Fillion is the face of the ABC police procedural \u201cThe Rookie,\u201d<\/a> but he\u2019s given some thought to life after the show.<\/p>\n Luckily for fans of \u201cThe Rookie,\u201d Fillion, 54, isn\u2019t planning to leave anytime soon. He\u2019d like to spend another decade playing John Nolan, and he wants the series to continue after he leaves. <\/p>\n \u201cIn 10 years, I would like to be just wrapping up \u2018The Rookie\u2019, maybe handing it off to someone else,\u201d Fillion said during a recent interview with People<\/a>. \u201cAnd then spend a soft retirement visiting \u2018The Rookie\u2019 and dabbling in the four to seven \u2018Rookie\u2019 spin-off series that are still going and very, very popular. In the meantime, when I\u2019m not working on those, I would like to be in my beach house.\u201d<\/p>\n Fillion also has ideas for other occupations once he steps away from the \u201cwacky and zany\u201d entertainment industry. <\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019d either teach acting \u2014 particularly how to act through distraction \u2014 or I would do, like, a sunset booze cruise where everybody would still have to call me captain,\u201d he quipped.<\/p>\n For now, Fillion is loving life on \u201cThe Rookie,\u201d which premiered on ABC in 2018. Season 8 is set to kick off on Jan. 6, 2026.<\/p>\n \u201cMy favorite part is that [fans] always tell me that they\u2019re watching [\u2018The Rookie\u2019] with their family, that they get together with their friends and this is their show,\u201d Fillion said. \u201cIt\u2019s an event that they share.
