The revealing exchange began with Diplo talking about Montreal, Canada, being a \u201chorny\u201d place. Host Nayeema Raza agreed, adding that the country\u2019s new prime minister, Mark Carney, is hot.<\/p>\n

The conversation took a turn when Diplo said, \u201cNow Katy Perry is dating Justin Trudeau. Pretty fire.\u201d He then added that he dated Perry \u2014 before casually dropping, \u201cOh, I did date Trudeau too.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThat was a weird one though,\u201d he continued, explaining, \u201cBecause I’m just not into politicians.\u201d<\/p>\n

The question is: did he actually mean it, or was he just kidding? While it\u2019s unclear in the clip whether the DJ was joking, in the YouTube comments for the episode, the show\u2019s official account clarified that it was all in fun, writing, \u201clol!! no that part was a joke.\u201d<\/p>\n

Folks on social media, however, disagree \u2014 and many are all in on Diplo\u2019s claims being true.<\/p>\n

What is confirmed, however, is that Diplo and Perry dated briefly back in 2014. In fact, Perry once ranked the DJ as her third-best lover<\/u><\/a> \u2014 behind Orlando Bloom and John Mayer \u2014 while playing a game with James Corden on her Witness World Wide livestream in 2017.<\/p>\n
