The Prince of Wales will deliver a special message to schools
\nacross the UK as the country marks Armistice Day.<\/p>\n

Pupils around the country will be taking part in an online
\nassembly which will include a video address from Prince
\nWilliam.<\/p>\n

In the message, part of the Royal British Legion\u2019s
\nRemembrance<\/a> Assembly on 11th November, the heir to the throne
\ntells those watching that Armistice Day is an important time to
\nfor us to stop and reflect \u2013 it is a reminder that Remembrance is
\nfor everyone.<\/em>\u201d<\/p>\n

It\u2019s likely that William\u2019s eldest two children will be watching
\nas the assembly is designed for those between 9 and 14 \u2013 Prince
\nGeorge is 12 and Princess Charlotte is 10.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s been created in partnership with the National Literacy
\nTrust and it\u2019s an online event that will include the two minute
\nsilence at 11am.<\/p>\n

William\u2019s address speaks directly to the young people involved.
\nThe Prince tells them that \u201dwhen we remember, we connect with
\nservice in a personal way. We learn from the courage of others, and
\nwe carry their stories forward, so they are not forgotten. It\u2019s not
\njust about the past\u2014it\u2019s about shaping who we become in the
\nfuture.<\/em>\u201d<\/p>\n

He continues \u201dRemembrance teaches us empathy, resilience,
\nand responsibility. And when we wear a red poppy or take a moment
\nof silence, we are saying, \u201cThank you. We have not forgotten, and
\nwe will not forget.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

The future king also talks of his own time in the Armed Forces,
\nsaying \u201dThrough my own military experience, as well as through
\nmy work in connection with units across the Royal Navy, the Army
\nand the Royal Air Force, I have seen firsthand the hard work,
\ndedication and duty the Armed Forces carry out to ensure we are
\nprotected.\u00a0<\/em>\u201d<\/p>\n

And he ends \u201dComing together for Remembrance is a vital way
\nto honour those whose service keeps us safe.<\/em> Even today,
\nas we continue to face a number of conflicts across the world, we
\nhonour those who have gone before us, and those who are serving
\nnow.<\/em> Their memories matter, their lives matter, and they
\nremind us to be respectful, kind, brave, and thoughtful every
\nday.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

The assembly is led by veteran and TV presenter, JJ Chalmers,
\nand features Second World War veterans including 101 George Durrant
\nfrom West Sussex who served in the Intelligence Corps in the
\n14th<\/sup>\u00a0Army, sometimes called \u2018The Forgotten Army\u2019.
\nAlso included is 100 year old Prince Albert Jacob who left his home
\nin the Port of Spain in Trinidad at the age of 17 to join the
\nRAF.<\/p>\n

The assembly is held every year. Philippa Rawlinson who is
\nDirector of Remembrance at the Royal British Legion said \u201dWe\u2019re
\nhonoured to welcome the Prince of Wales to this year\u2019s Remembrance
\nAssembly. His contribution, alongside that of veterans and serving
\npersonnel, will encourage young people to take part in Remembrance
\nand find their own connection to the Armed Forces community, past
\nand present.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

On Armistice Day, the Princess of Wales will attend a service at
\nthe National Memorial Arboretum. During that act of remembrance, a
\nspecially written sonnet by the Arboretum\u2019s Poet in Residence, Arji
\nManuelpillai, will be read.<\/p>\n

\u2018It\u2019s called \u2018A Sonnet For Us All\u201d and focuses on the importance
\nof personal connections and bonds that are formed through military
\nservice, themes which Kate explores in her patronages and work.<\/p>\n
