Fox News anchor Tomi Lahren called on Republicans to pay attention to the message sent by voters this week after Democrats won several major races, including democratic socialist Zohran Mamdani being elected as the next mayor of New York<\/a> City.<\/p>\n While co-hosting The Big Weekend Show, Lahren discussed the results of the governor\u2019s races in New Jersey and Virginia, Mamdani\u2019s victory in New York, and the passing of Proposition 50 in California<\/a>, a redistricting measure backed by Governor Gavin Newsom.<\/p>\n The segment included clips of Republicans<\/a> downplaying the results, including House Speaker Mike Johnson of Louisiana, who said the outcome was \u201cno surprise\u201d and that \u201cno one should read too much into\u201d the results. It comes as an NFL star failed to impress Donald Trump with his celebration in an awkward moment<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cI think that it\u2019s always a bad idea when Republicans get too cocky,\u201d Lahren said. \u201cI think we\u2019ve done this before, we\u2019ve seen this movie before, the \u2018Red Waves\u2019 that were always supposed to crash that never happened.\u201d<\/p>\n She added that the results were not necessarily a \u201cbellwether\u201d for 2026 or 2028, but they were still worth noting. \u201cNYC played itself by electing a socialist,\u201d Lahren said, \u201cbut I do think Republicans would be wise to have a wake-up call and realize that we can\u2019t take anything for granted.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n \u201cI think he should be nice to me,\u201d Trump said. \u201cYou know, I\u2019m the one who sort of has to approve a lot of things coming to him, so he\u2019s off to a bad start.\u201d<\/p>\n
