(KCTV) &#8211; The Royals introduced a new president of business operations Monday as the team continues their push to build a new stadium.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The club hired Cullen Maxey as president of business operations and moved Brooks Sherman to president of real estate and development as part of the organizational restructuring.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cOver the next five to 10 years, we will still be a baseball club and hopefully aspiring to do great things for our fans,\u201d Royals Chairman and CEO John Sherman said. \u201cBut we\u2019ll also have built a stadium, which is a very, very significant project. Really, Brooks\u2019 role is to go kind of build out the team to do that. When that\u2019s built, he\u2019ll turn it over to Cullen for operations, but then to try to create a mixed-use development around it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\"><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.kctv5.com\/2025\/11\/07\/royals-hire-new-president-business-operations-search-new-stadium-location-continues\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"\" title=\"https:\/\/www.kctv5.com\/2025\/11\/07\/royals-hire-new-president-business-operations-search-new-stadium-location-continues\/\">Maxey joins the Royals<\/a> after two decades with the Arizona Diamondbacks, where he helped lead multiple stadium projects, including planning and construction of the Diamondbacks\u2019 $200 million Salt River Fields Complex.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cChange is hard. People are going to be on both sides of that. We understand that,\u201d Maxey said of the stadium project. \u201cThat means you need to have a lot of trust in the leaders that are creating that change, that they\u2019re doing it for the right reasons. And I know we are.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The current lease at Kauffman Stadium expires in 2030. Royals Chairman and CEO John Sherman said Monday the team had no timeline updates to share.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cThese are complex, multi-jurisdiction, public-private partnerships,\u201d John Sherman said. \u201cThey always take longer than any of us hope.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cRarely do you have an opportunity to build a stadium,\u201d Maxey said. \u201cWhat will be built, the vision \u2014 if even half of that is delivered is something that\u2019s going to stick forever.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"copyright |\"><i>Copyright 2025 KCTV.
