Emmy Award-winning actress Jane Seymour<\/a> has teamed up with the American Heart Association<\/a> to raise awareness about heart disease<\/a>, a condition with which she has a personal connection.<\/p>\n Speaking to People<\/em><\/a> about her new role as an American Heart Association ambassador, the Harry Wild<\/em><\/a> star revealed, \u201cMy mother had heart disease. My father died of heart disease. My sisters and I, we all need to watch our cholesterol and we take statins.\u201d<\/p>\n Seymour shared some eye-opening statistics, revealing, \u201cMore women die from [heart disease] than men. It\u2019s the number one cause of death for women, more than all the cancers put together. One in 5 women in the U.S. will have a stroke in their lifetime\u2026 I think it\u2019s a wake-up call.\u201d<\/p>\n The Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman<\/em><\/a> alum opened up about how she takes care of her body, referring to it as being \u201clike a car\u2026 It\u2019s my vehicle for as long as I\u2019m able to live.\u201d<\/p>\n Her focus is on reducing stress and getting enough sleep. \u201cI do everything I can to not stress or to handle stress. I sleep eight hours a night,\u201d she shared. \u201cWhen I\u2019m filming and I\u2019m starting at 4 in the morning, I will set the alarm during the day and I tell myself whether I actually sleep or not, I will lie down and attempt to sleep and meditate to sleep.\u201d<\/p>\n Seymour, who will turn 75 in February 2026, urged people to \u201cgo to your doctor\u201d and \u201cfind out what your blood pressure is\u2026 if you have clogged arteries, cholesterol issues. If there\u2019s a medication that\u2019s going to help you, make sure you stay on the medication.\u201d<\/p>\n
