Lana Condor<\/strong><\/a> is hoping her boundary-pushing role on CBS\u2019 Elsbeth<\/em> comes as a surprise for those who may know her primarily from To All the Boys I\u2019ve Loved Before<\/em>.<\/a><\/p>\n

In Us Weekly<\/em>\u2018s exclusive sneak peek of the December 4 episode, Carrie Preston<\/strong>\u2018s Elsbeth<\/em> \u201cgoes from the squad room to the locker room when a campus murder rocks the world of college basketball after an athletic director winds up dead following a heated confrontation with his basketball coach\u2019s 22-year-old girlfriend,\u201d according to the official synopsis.<\/p>\n

The first-look images tease Condor\u2019s character, who is visibly younger than her boyfriend, in a story line seemingly pulling ideas from recent high-profile age gap romances \u2014 including that of Jordon Hudson<\/strong> and Bill Belichick<\/strong>.<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cI just felt like it would be a fun way to maybe be seen in a little bit of a different light,\u201d Condor, 28, exclusively told Us Weekly<\/em> while attending the Netflix House Philadelphia VIP Housewarming Party<\/a> on Monday, November 10. \u201cPredominantly, I am known for To All the Boys I\u2019ve Loved Before, and I wanted to show a different layer.\u201d<\/p>\n

Condor was thrilled for the out-of-the-box opportunity.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was very excited to be a part of the show, and Carrie and everyone on the show were so welcoming to me,\u201d she recalled. \u201cI hope I get to go back, because it was a very sweet experience and they really respected me. \u2026 I felt like they believed that I could do something where my character is so different from anything I\u2019ve ever done. They were so encouraging, and that\u2019s hard to find.\u201d<\/p>\n

Condor continued: \u201cThat crew and that team is amazing. Everyone on Elsbeth, they\u2019re good and kind people. To be honest, I think that\u2019s very hard to find in this industry. When I was offered the role, my team called me and they were like, \u2018Hey, all of our clients who\u2019ve been a part of the show have loved it.\u2019 If you tell me there\u2019s good people, I\u2019m there.\u201d<\/p>\n

The best part of the experience was getting to share the screen with her husband, Anthony De La Torre<\/strong>.<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cMy husband got to do the show as well. He\u2019s in it,\u201d she gushed to Us<\/em>. \u201cThat was a major part [of what made this experience even better].\u201d<\/p>\n

Before appearing on season 3 of Elsbeth<\/em>, Condor became a household name playing Lara Jean in the hit Netflix franchise To All the Boys I\u2019ve Loved Before<\/em>. Condor appeared alongside costar Noah Centineo<\/strong> in all three films, which were based on Jenny Han<\/strong>\u2018s book series.<\/p>\n

After originally appearing on The Good Wife and The Good Fight, Preston was reintroduced as Elsbeth Tascioni, who became a de facto detective that aids the NYPD in their investigations. \u201cThe books had such a strong, strong following and the fans were so supportive. So we had the built-in Jenny Han fans, and they really showed up for us,\u201d Condor exclusively told Us<\/em> about To All the Boys<\/em>\u2018 continued success in September 2024. \u201cIn terms of chemistry, Noah and I both really respected each other and we both knew how fortunate and lucky we were to even be working on any job. We came from a place of mutual respect, and it really worked. And we were really good friends.\u201d<\/p>\n

At the time, Condor seemed unsure about reuniting<\/a> professionally, adding, \u201cWe\u2019ve never actually talked about working on something else together. Or actually maybe we did. But I don\u2019t know if it would make sense. \u2026 I don\u2019t know if the audience could suspend their disbelief unless we just played older versions of our characters.\u201d<\/p>\n
