Academy Award nominee Sally Kirkland<\/a> passed away this morning at the age of 84.<\/p>\n

The sad news comes just days after the actress was put on hospice following a battle with dementia, infection, and a recent fall, according to Variety.<\/p>\n

Kirkland<\/a> garnered widespread acclaim for her Oscar-nominated performance in 1987\u2019s Anna<\/a>, but horror fans are most likely to recognize her from Two Evil Eyes<\/a>, appearing in Dario Argento<\/a>\u2019s adaptation of Edgar Allan Poe<\/a>\u2019s The Black Cat<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Kirkland also earned a Golden Globe nomination for the made-for-tv movie The Haunted<\/a>, based on the Smurl haunting, and popped up in the \u201980s slasher Fatal Games<\/a>.<\/p>\n
