Thirty years after the debut of Pixar\u2019s \u201cToy Story,\u201d the studio has released the first teaser trailer for the animated franchise\u2019s fifth movie.<\/p>\n
Titled \u201cToy Story 5\u2033 the movie will hit theaters on June 19, 2026, seven years after the latest movie in the franchise premiered in 2019.<\/p>\n
The first \u201cToy Story\u201d film was released in 1995, with the second and third films debuting in 1999 and 2010.<\/p>\n
In the newest movie, Woody, Buzz and the rest of the toys will have to navigate a world in which kids are infatuated by electronics, and 8-year-old Bonnie gets a new device.<\/p>\n
The teaser features the first released footage of the movie, introducing a new character: Lilypad, a high-tech, frog-shaped smart tablet voiced by Greta Lee \u201cthat makes Buzz, Woody, Jessie and the rest of the gang\u2019s jobs exponentially harder when they go head to head with the all-new threat to playtime,\u201d per a synopsis.<\/p>\n

The teaser shows the toys appearing to be frightened by the new tablet.<\/p>\n
Tom Hanks and Tim Allen return in the new movie to voice Woody and Buzz, respectively, along with Joan Cusack as Jessie, Blake Clark as Slinky Dog and Tony Hale as Forky, per Variety.<\/a> Conan O\u2019Brien will join the franchise as a new character.<\/p>\n Andrew Stanton, who co-wrote the other four movies in the franchise, will be directing \u201cToy Story 5\u2033 and is credited as the sole screenwriter for the movie. He also directed the Pixar films \u201cFinding Nemo,\u201d \u201cWALL-E\u201d and \u201cFinding Dory.\u201d<\/p>\n Stanton and co-director Kenna Harris said in a statement, \u201cIt\u2019s been a hilarious and poignant journey exploring how our favorite team of legacy toys might respond to today\u2019s world of technology, and we\u2019re thrilled to share this first glimpse with audiences,\u201d per People. <\/a><\/p>\n When \u201cToy Story\u201d was released in 1995, it was the first fully-computer animated feature film. The new addition to the franchise will be Pixar\u2019s 31st feature, per The Hollywood Reporter. <\/a><\/p>\n Along with the five \u201cToy Story\u201d movies, the franchise also includes the spinoff \u201cLightyear,\u201d which features Chris Evans as the voice of the human who inspired the toy Buzz Lightyear. The spinoff was released in 2022.<\/p>\n Pixar\u2019s most recent release was \u201cElio,\u201d which premiered this summer and put out disappointing numbers at the box office.
