Comedy fans are pointing out striking similarities in recent sketches from \u201cSaturday Night Live\u201d and BYUtv\u2019s \u201cStudio C.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n As first reported on news outlet LateNighter<\/a>, a sketch that aired on the show on Nov. 8 bore resemblance to one that aired on \u201cStudio C\u201d just a few days earlier on Nov. 3. Both sketches riffed on the Disney film \u201cBeauty and the Beast,\u201d replacing the titular Beast with popular YouTuber MrBeast, aka Jimmy Donaldson.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n The \u201cSNL\u201d parody<\/a> showed host Nikki Glaser as Belle and cast member Ben Marshall as a hybrid of Disney\u2019s Beast and the YouTuber, who is known for staging elaborate challenges with huge cash prizes for contestants.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n \u201cI\u2019m keeping her dad trapped in a dungeon for 30 days for a chance to win over $300,000,\u201d Marshall says in the sketch. \u201cFor every pound he loses, I\u2019ll give a Tesla to a random stranger.\u201d Cast members Kenan Thompson and Bowen Yang appear as versions of Cogsworth and Lumi\u00e8re.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Studio C\u2019s sketch also had MrBeast in an old French castle staging an elaborate game show for an unwitting Belle. In the sketch, MrBeast says he\u2019s trapped 100 servants in the castle.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n \u201cThe only way they\u2019re gonna get their human bodies back is if they make this lady fall in love with me,\u201d he says. Progress in the game is tracked by the number of petals falling off of a rose.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n While the \u201cSNL\u201d sketch featured Beast in full costume, Studio C opted for its MrBeast to wear a blue hoodie emblazoned with \u201cBeast.\u201d Instead of having Belle in her signature yellow ball gown as on \u201cSNL,\u201d Studio C\u2019s version portrayed Belle in her blue dress.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n Some commenters pointed out the similarities online.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n \u201cNow everyone needs to go watch the Studio C version of this skit… which happened to air 5 days before this SNL version,\u201d one user wrote on the YouTube of the \u201cSNL\u201d video, while another wrote on Studio C\u2019s video, \u201d<\/span>I think this version works better than the SNL version because it\u2019s a parody of Mr. Beast\u2019s entire video style, while the SNL skit was just a movie trailer parody with Mr. Beast thrown in as a character.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n \u201cDid #snl realize that @BYUtv\u2019s sketch show Studio C did Beauty and Mr Beast last week?\u201d one X user wrote<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Neither \u201cSNL<\/a>\u201d nor BYUtv immediately responded to requests for comment.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n This isn\u2019t the first time \u201cSNL\u201d has been accused of copying others\u2019 work.
