Jelly Roll<\/a><\/strong> shared his most recent album, Beautifully Broken<\/em>, in 2024, and the 40-year-old country star is currently working on a follow-up project to the hit record. In a new interview on The Hot Hits with Nic and Loren<\/em><\/a>, Jelly Roll shared a few details about his new work, confirming that it will be a whole lot different from anything he\u2019s ever released before.<\/p>\n Jelly Roll and the podcast hosts had been discussing therapy when the genre-bending singer was asked if going to therapy makes him a better songwriter. \u201cI don\u2019t know,\u201d he admitted. \u201cThat\u2019s a great question. I don\u2019t know. That\u2019s a good question\u2026 I hate that you asked me such a stumpy one.\u201d<\/p>\n Loren said that she and Nic often \u201ctalk about how songwriting is a sort of a form of journaling,\u201d before explaining, \u201cIf you kind of know yourself better inside, I imagine that the journaling in the songs would be easier to get out.\u201d<\/p>\n Jelly Roll agreed with one caveat. \u201cI got to be careful that they don\u2019t become preachy,\u201d he said. \u201cYou know what I mean?\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cThis new album\u2019s going to be a big test of that because what I\u2019m writing right now is dramatically different than everything y\u2019all ever heard,\u201d he revealed, explaining that the project is \u201cgoing to meet me more where I\u2019m at in my life.\u201d Over the past several years, Jelly Roll<\/a> has risen to fame with songs about the struggles and obstacles he has overcome in life, and because he\u2019s now in such a good place and \u201cvery connected,\u201d he\u2019s \u201cstruggling\u201d to write the \u201chopeless songs\u201d is he known for.<\/p>\n \u201cWhen I was hopeless, I couldn\u2019t write another song. That\u2019s how I started coining the phrase therapeutic music,\u201d the Nashville native explained. \u201cI wrote so many hopeless songs because that\u2019s the only emotion I felt\u2026 You know what I\u2019m saying? There\u2019s things that lead to this hopelessness, you know what I\u2019m saying?
