Pop kids, Queen Robyn<\/a> has returned at long last with \u201cDopamine,\u201d her first new solo single in some seven years.<\/p>\n \u201cEveryone has a phone where they see their heart rate, and we\u2019re learning how to decode our emotions through the hormones and chemical substances in our bodies,\u201d Robyn says of \u201cDopamine.\u201d \u201cIt\u2019s almost like we don\u2019t even accept that we\u2019re human anymore, like we\u2019re trying to shoot ourselves out of it and explain every single thing \u2013 which I think is great, but that\u2019s also why the world is shit, this idea that you can figure out and win life or something. The doubleness of Dopamine is having an emotion that is super real, super strong, intense, enjoyable or painful, and at the same time knowing that this is just a biological process in my body\u2014and then not to choose religion or science. To just accept that they\u2019re there together and to be able to go in between.\u201d<\/p>\n Robyn\u2019s last album came in 2018 with the \u201clovely but brutal\u201d Honey<\/em><\/a>. Since then, the Swedish songstress has made a series of sporadic appearances and other collaborative releases. That includes appearing with David Byrne during the SNL<\/em> 50th anniversary concert<\/a>; teaming with Jamie XX for 2024\u2019s \u201cLife\u201d<\/a> (including subsequent performances in Copenhagen<\/a> and at Glastonbury Festival<\/a>); and duets with both Neneh Cherry<\/a> and Smile<\/a> in 2022 and 2021, respectively.<\/p>\n
