\n\tRobyn<\/a> has released her first new single in seven years. Out Wednesday (Nov. 12) via Jamie xx\u2019s Young label, \u201cDopamine\u201d is a soaring, sparkling and characteristically sophisticated dancefloor anthem.<\/p>\n

\n\tMade with longtime collaborator Klas \u00c5hlund, the track comes with a striking video directed by London-based photographer Marili Andre. Watch and listen below. <\/p>\n

\n\tThe Swedish dance<\/a> pop titan says the song is a commentary on the way modern culture tracks emotions through biological data unloaded on us by our devices. \u201cEveryone has a phone where they see their heart rate, and we\u2019re learning how to decode our emotions through the hormones and chemical substances in our bodies,\u201d Robyn says in a statement. <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cIt\u2019s almost like we don\u2019t even accept that we\u2019re human anymore, like we\u2019re trying to shoot ourselves out of it and explain every single thing \u2013 which I think is great, but that\u2019s also why the world is s\u2013t, this idea that you can figure out and win life or something. The doubleness of \u2018Dopamine\u2019 is having an emotion that is super real, super strong, intense, enjoyable or painful, and at the same time knowing that this is just a biological process in my body\u2014and then not to choose religion or science. To just accept that they\u2019re there together and to be able to go in between.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tWhile \u201cDopamine\u201d is the first new solo work from Robyn since her 2018 album Honey<\/em>, she\u2019s been very present in the dance world via a slew of collaborations including the 2020 SG Lewis and Channel Tres collab \u201cImpact,\u201d her vocal contributions to \u201cLife\u201d from Jamie xx\u2019s 2024 album In Waves<\/em> and her appearance on the remixed version<\/a> of Charli xcx\u2019s \u201c360\u201d on 2024\u2019s Brat and it\u2019s completely different but also still brat<\/em>. <\/p>\n

\n\tShe also made headlines in February with her appearance alongside David Byrne at the SNL50: The Homecoming Concert<\/em>, where she performed her 2010 all-time classic \u201cDancing On My Own.\u201d In March, Billboard <\/em>named<\/a> this track 17th best dance song of all time.<\/p>\n
