Lady Frederick Windsor has given a candid interview about being a royal, admitting \u201cthe more\u201d she sees of her husband\u2019s family\u2019s life, the more she believes \u201ctheir lives are total hell\u201d and \u201ctorture\u201d.<\/p>\n

Sophie Winkleman, star of hit series Peep Show<\/i> and Two and a Half Men,<\/i> married 54th in line to the throne, Lord Frederick Windsor, in 2009 in a lavish ceremony at London\u2019s Hampton Court Palace and has been in proximity to the royal family since.<\/p>\n

While maintaining her acting career, mother-of-two Winkleman is also regularly photographed at the likes of Royal Ascot and Trooping the Colour, and recently, alongside King Charles and Prince William at the Duchess of Kent\u2019s funeral.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe more I get to know the royal family, the more I get that their lives are total hell and that level of unasked-for fame is a form of torture,\u201d she told the UK\u2019s Times<\/a><\/i>.<\/p>\n

\u201cNone of them went on [UK reality show] Pop Idol <\/i>or something to be famous. <\/p>\n

\u2018To have that sort of blinding spotlight in your face from when you\u2019re born, not knowing quite whom you can trust, not knowing if someone\u2019s going to betray you, people writing lies about you the whole time, is just brutal. <\/p>\n

\u201cI feel for them all. I don\u2019t think a life with that much scrutiny and pressure is remotely healthy, but they have no choice.\u201d<\/p>\n

Prince Harry himself famously wrote about the \u201cfancy captivity\u201d he felt that \u201croyal fame\u201d had brought him from birth in his memoir Spare<\/i>, with constant scrutiny from the media and the public.<\/p>\n

Speaking to Oprah Winfrey alongside Meghan in their 2021 post-royal interview, the Duke of Sussex also claimed he had been \u201ctrapped\u201d but \u201cdidn\u2019t know I was trapped\u201d, and that he felt \u201chuge compassion\u201d for his father and brother as \u201cthey don\u2019t get to leave\u201d.<\/p>\n
