EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) \u2014 Barbi Jo<\/a> DiMaria, host of 92 PRO FM<\/a>\u2018s midday show, was a guest on this edition of\u00a0Spotlight New England<\/a>.<\/p>\n The Johnston native has been working at the station for 20 years and had some advice for younger generations considering a similar career path.<\/p>\n \u201cSpeak up. It\u2019s OK to let it be known what your goals are,\u201d DiMaria said.<\/p>\n \u201cAny interns that come through the radio station or anyone that will ask my advice, I\u2019m like, \u2018Let yourself be heard. Every once in a while, just let people know your goals.’\u201d<\/p>\n When asked what she loves about radio, DiMaria said it\u2019s having a voice.<\/p>\n \u201cYou have a voice to this audience you don\u2019t realize,\u201d she said. \u201cSo, it\u2019s nice to have a voice. It\u2019s nice to entertain people. People will always say, \u2018You\u2019re very relatable.\u2019 You don\u2019t realize that you\u2019re actually putting a smile to somebody\u2019s face.\u201d<\/p>\n DiMaria said it\u2019s been \u201csuch a privilege\u201d to work at 92 PRO FM for the past 20 years.<\/p>\n \u201cI didn\u2019t know I was going to make my entire home and career here,\u201d she said. \u201cPersonally, it is such an honor and a privilege to work where I work. It\u2019s the station I grew up listening to.
