Elizabeth Olsen wants to return as the Scarlet Witch in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).<\/p>\n
The 36-year-old actress portrayed Wanda Maximoff from 2015\u2019s Avengers: Age of Ultron until the character\u2019s supposed demise in 2022\u2019s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, and Olsen has insisted she would come back to the MCU \u201cin a heartbeat\u201d.<\/p>\n
When The Playlist asked the Eternity star whether fans would see the Scarlet Witch again, she said: \u201cI\u2019ve been really proud of what we\u2019ve been able to make. Really proud.<\/p>\n
\u201cBut I don\u2019t have an answer for that.\u201d<\/p>\n
Olsen added she had \u201cno idea how or when\u201d the Scarlet Witch might reappear, and stressed she was not in Avengers: Doomsday.<\/p>\n
When the outlet told Olsen fans could imagine her featuring in the upcoming blockbuster, she said: \u201cWell, I can\u2019t. Honestly, I do wait.<\/p>\n
\u201cI want to see [her] return in this role because I think what they\u2019ve done with her is really great, and I love the journey she\u2019s taken. I think it\u2019s always a fun one to get to go back into, and I just have no idea how or when, for sure.\u201d<\/p>\n
Olsen had previously said she would \u201calways\u201d want to come back to the MCU, and felt \u201cvery lucky and very scared\u201d when she joined the superhero franchise more than a decade ago.<\/p>\n
Speaking at the Hamptons International Film Festival’s A Conversation With … event, People magazine reported she said: \u201cIt is something that I love, and it’s something I always want to return to.<\/p>\n
\u201cI think the thing that’s been so special about the last five years is I’ve gotten to do so much with the character that I never thought I would. There are still character through lines that have happened in the comics that I’d love to do that I think fans also want to.<\/p>\n
\u201cI mean, these movies aren’t for critics, these movies are for fans.\u201d<\/p>\n
Olsen – who was nominated for an Emmy Award for her performance in 2021 Disney+ Marvel show WandaVision – noted that superhero-movie fatigue may have kicked in for some people, but she loves the familiarity of the genre.<\/p>\n
She explained: \u201cIt’s really fruitful, and the stories have only gotten better for me, my character. I really enjoyed it.<\/p>\n
\u201cSome people have ongoing television series that they get to return to. Very few, I feel like, get to be a part of franchises that, I know we might culturally get a little bit exhausted by, but there is something about them that becomes very familial.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere’s nothing else really like it, and I don’t know that I’ll have [that] again unless it’s for an ongoing show. I do like that kind of consistency. It feels good. I mean, job security feels nice \u2014 I think we can all agree on that.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
