\u201cLonely\u201d and \u201cLocked Up\u201d singer Akon<\/strong> has been arrested, Us Weekly <\/i>can confirm.<\/p>\n

The 52-year-old musician (real name Aliaune Thiam) was arrested on November 6, in Alpharetta, Georgia, according to jail records viewed by Us. <\/i>He was released later that same day.<\/p>\n

Akon had been booked on an out-of-state warrant for his failure to appear over a suspended license.<\/p>\n

A police report obtained by Us<\/i> stated that Akon \u201ccomplied\u201d with the arresting officers\u2019 requests.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe complied by remaining calm and stated he was aware of the warrant,\u201d the report continued. \u201cHe was released to the on-duty detention officers along with the warrant confirming it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Akon has not further addressed his arrest. Us <\/i>has reached out to his reps for comment.<\/p>\n

The musician rose to fame in 2004 with the release of his debut single, \u201cLocked Up.\u201d His other hits include \u201cLonely,\u201d \u201cPot of Gold,\u201d \u201cSmack That,\u201d \u201cI Can\u2019t Wait,\u201d \u201cI Wanna Love You\u201d and \u201cDrunk Right Now (Na Na Na).\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen you [have] been in the business for so long, you start to lose your love for it,\u201d he told Grammy.com<\/a> in July. \u201cMy mindset and how I\u2019m approaching all this is totally different 1763055080. My energy is completely at an all time high. I feel like a brand new artist again.\u201d<\/p>\n

At the time, Akon revealed he was entering a \u201cnew era\u201d of his career.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think this new era of me is going to be more on the executive side of things. I really want to reshape music back to feel-good music, music that reminds you of moments in your life,\u201d he told the outlet. \u201cThere\u2019s a lot of music out there, but they\u2019re not really giving me the nostalgic [feeling] where, 10 years from now, I\u2019ll be able to play this record and be like, \u2018This was a classic.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

He added, \u201cI think a lot of records are quickly put together just for the sake of getting views and streams. I really want to come back into the music industry and give people music that really feels good, that means something to their everyday lives again.\u201d<\/p>\n

In addition to working on his music career, Akon is currently in the middle of a divorce from his wife of 28 years, Tomeka \u201cAmirror\u201d Thiam<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Thiam filed for divorce from Akon in September, citing irreconcilable differences and seeking joint legal custody and sole physical custody of their 17-year-old daughter in documents obtained by Billboard<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Akon, who has welcomed eight other children from past relationships, married Thiam in 1996.<\/p>\n
