Lady Gaga said in a new interview that she found the negative reactions to last year’s Joker: Folie \u00e0 Deux<\/em> funny “because it was just getting so unhinged”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n “I\u2019m almost nervous to share my reaction, but the truth is, when it first started happening, I started laughing,” she said<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n Folie \u00e0 Deux<\/em>, a sequel to the 2019 movie Joker<\/em>, bombed at the box office and received negative reviews from movie critics and audiences<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n More than a year after Joker: Folie \u00e0 Deux<\/em><\/a> hit theaters, Lady Gaga<\/a> is sharing more thoughts on the negative reaction the film received from critics and fans alike.<\/p>\n “There was a ton of negativity around Joker,<\/em>\u201d Gaga, 39, said when she spoke with Rolling Stone<\/a> <\/em>for a cover story published on Thursday, Nov. 13. \u201cAnd I think I was feeling artistically rebellious at the time.\u201d<\/p>\n Gaga costarred with Joaquin Phoenix<\/a> in the sequel to 2019’s Joker<\/em>. Unlike the first movie, for which Phoenix, 51, won his first Academy Award<\/a>, Folie \u00e0 Deux<\/em> saw disappointing box office results<\/a> and received a\u00a0D rating from CinemaScore<\/a>, which polls moviegoers after seeing a movie to aggregate reactions. (The first Joker<\/em> movie received a B+ from CinemaScore.)<\/p>\n \u201cI wasn\u2019t, like, unfazed. It\u2019s funny, I\u2019m almost nervous to share my reaction,” Gaga told the outlet when asked whether the negative reviews that poured in for Folie \u00e0 Deux<\/em> bothered her. “But the truth is, when it first started happening, I started laughing. Because it was just getting so unhinged.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n \u201cWhen it takes a while for something to kind of dissipate, that can be a little bit more painful,” she added. “Only because I put a lot of myself into it.\u201d<\/p>\n
