EXCLUSIVE:<\/strong> Independent Film Company has pre-bought North American rights to Jenny Suen\u2019s Hong Kong-set comedy Peaches, which will now star Sophie Thatcher (Yellowjackets) and Havana Rose Liu (Bottoms).<\/p>\n Currently filming in Hong Kong, Peaches follows Nora (Thatcher) and Bing Bing (Liu), two spoiled best friends who scam sugar daddies for a living. When they discover that a coveted Herm\u00e8s Birkin bag they were gifted is a fake, their \u201cboyfriends\u201d and their crimes quickly catch up with them, sending the pair on a wild romp through Hong Kong. The movie is inspired by Vera Chitylova\u2019s 1966 film Daisies.<\/p>\n More from Deadline<\/strong><\/p>\n The North America deal was negotiated by Rachael Labes on behalf of Independent Film Company and CAA on behalf of the filmmakers. Mk2 continues to sell the film\u2019s international rights at this week\u2019s American Film Market.<\/p>\n Pic is produced by Coco Francini and executive-produced by Cate Blanchett and Andrew Upton of Dirty Films (which has Alpha Gang upcoming). Jacqueline Liu of One Cool Workshop Limited and Suen also produce.<\/p>\n The film marks director Suen\u2019s English-language debut after 2017 drama\u00a0The White Girl, which she wrote and co-directed with DoP Christopher Doyle.<\/p>\n Executive producers are Matthew Helderman and Luke Taylor for BondIt Media Capital, Jessamine Burgum and Kara Durrett for Pinky Promise, Patrick Patterson and Joel Reilly for Undisputed Pictures, Tristan Strathy, Harriet Harper-Jones, Jesse Ozeri, Sam Pressman and Sara McFarlane.<\/p>\n Said director Jenny Suen: \u201cI am floored by Sophie and Havana\u2019s uproarious performances as best friends indulging in all that Hong Kong has to offer.
