Lady Gaga says she is \u201creally lucky to be alive\u201d after suffering a psychotic mental health crisis and taking lithium while filming the hit movie A Star Is Born.<\/p>\n

The 39-year-old pop star, born Stefani Germanotta, said she was on the mood-stabilising medicine while working on the film that earned her an Oscar win for her song Shallow and a best actress nomination, but was later admitted to hospital.<\/p>\n

Her mental health declined so much that the Abracadabra singer was forced to cancel her Joanne world tour in February 2018.<\/p>\n

The crisis also preceded her headlining set during Super Bowl LI in Houston in February 2017.<\/p>\n

\u201cI did A Star Is Born on lithium. There was one day that my sister said to me, \u2018I don\u2019t see my sister anymore\u2019,\u201d she told Rolling Stone<\/a>, where she features on the cover.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd I cancelled the tour. There was one day, I went to the hospital for psychiatric care. I needed to take a break. I couldn\u2019t do anything.<\/p>\n

\u201cI completely crashed. It was really scary. There was a time where I didn\u2019t think I could get better.\u201d<\/p>\n

Gaga, who is currently on her Mayhem Ball US and Europe tour, said she eventually recovered from her mental health issues and now considers herself \u201ca healthy, whole person.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI feel really lucky to be alive. I know that might sound dramatic, but we know how this can go,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n

The New York native also credited her wellness to being in the care of her fianc\u00e9, Michael Polansky, whom she plans to wed and start a family with.<\/p>\n

\u201cBeing in love with someone that cares about the real me made a very big difference. How do you learn how to be yourself with someone when you don\u2019t know how to be yourself with anyone?\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

\u201cBeing a mum is the thing I want the most, and he\u2019s gonna be a beautiful father. We\u2019re really excited about that.\u201d<\/p>\n

Polansky told the magazine they aim to have their wedding either during the Mayhem Ball tour or shortly after it ends.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
