Don’t expect to see Daddy Yankee<\/a> at the Super Bowl, at least not at the mic during the halftime show.<\/p>\n When ABC News<\/a> asked the artist in a recent interview if he would be performing his 2004 hit “Gasolina” as part of headliner Bad Bunny<\/a>‘s 2026 Apple Music Super Bowl LX halftime show, he was clear.<\/p>\n “No, not right now. Not right now,” he answered. “Cause I’m on a different mission right now…even though I respect what he’s doing right now. Don’t get me wrong. Benito is an ally.”<\/p>\n Born Ram\u00f3n Ayala, Daddy Yankee has previously collaborated with Bad Bunny, but said in December 2023 that he was retiring to devote his life to Jesus<\/a>.<\/p>\n Both he and Bad Bunny, who was born Benito Antonio Mart\u00ednez Ocasio, are from Puerto Rico.<\/p>\n “And I love it, ’cause he’s from Puerto Rico,” Daddy Yankee said. “And actually, we were talking yesterday. I told him, ‘I wish you the best. Go out there and do your best, and we’re proud of you.’ But I’m in a different mission right now. It’s different. So I gotta represent what I’m doing right now 100 percent.”<\/p>\n He said that, if Bad Bunny were to ask him to perform his uplifting song “Sonr\u00edele,” though, “that’s different.” Then, he would be willing to take the stage to “send a message.”<\/p>\n “I would love to do it,” Daddy Yankee said. “You know, I respect it. I respect his creative decision. I respect everything that he’s doing right now. And it’s very important for the Spanish-speaking community, for the Latinos.
