Christopher Nolan<\/a> is once again raising the bar for the cinematic experience. In a new interview with Empire<\/em> magazine<\/a>, the director revealed that his upcoming film adaptation of Homer\u2019s Greek epic, The Odyssey<\/a><\/em>, used \u201cover two million feet of film,\u201d and much of it was shot in the open seas in order to capture the unpredictability of Mother Nature.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s pretty primal!\u201d Nolan told the publication. \u201cI\u2019ve been out on it for the last four months. We got the cast who play the crew of Odysseus\u2019 ship out there on the real waves, in the real places. And yeah, it\u2019s vast and terrifying and wonderful and benevolent, as the conditions shift. We really wanted to capture how hard those journeys would have been for people. And the leap of faith that was being made in an unmapped, uncharted world.\u201d<\/p>\n More from Rolling Stone<\/strong><\/p>\n The film has a reported budget of $250 million<\/a>, making it the most costly movie of Nolan\u2019s career, and is set to feature Matt Damon as Odysseus, while Tom Holland will play his son, Telemachus. The star-packed cast also includes Zendaya, Lupita Nyong\u2019o, Anne Hathaway, Robert Pattinson, Charlize Theron, Jon Bernthal, and Mia Goth.
