Lady Gaga\u2019s career was going very well in 2017 with the filming of the hit movie \u201cA Star Is Born,\u201d<\/a> but it came with a heavy mental toll.<\/p>\n In an interview with Rolling Stone<\/a>, Gaga reveals she was taking lithium while making the movie with Bradley Cooper. Lithium is a mood stabilizer that is used to treat disorders such as mania, hypo-mania, depression and bipolar disorder, according to the National Health Service<\/a> in England.<\/p>\n Gaga also released the album \u201cJoanne\u201d in 2016 and began a tour in 2017. The extensive workload led to a psychotic break, she tells Rolling Stone.<\/p>\n \u201cI did \u2018A Star Is Born\u2019 on lithium,\u201d Gaga says in the interview. \u201cThere was one day that my sister said to me, \u2018I don\u2019t see my sister anymore.\u2019 And I canceled the tour.<\/p>\n \u201cThere was one day I went to the hospital for psychiatric care. I needed to take a break. I couldn\u2019t do anything \u2026 I completely crashed. It was really scary. There was a time where I didn\u2019t think I could get better. \u2026 I feel really lucky to be alive. I know that might sound dramatic, but we know how this can go.\u201d<\/p>\n Gaga was nominated for two Oscars for her work in \u201cA Star Is Born,\u201d winning for best original song with \u201cShallow.\u201d<\/p>\n She says she now is in good health, crediting her fianc\u00e9 Michael Polansky. The couple have been together since 2020, according to The Hollywood Reporter<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cBeing in love with someone that cares about the real me made a very big difference,\u201d Gaga said.<\/p>\n She will hit the road next year as part of \u201cThe Mayhem Ball\u201d tour<\/a>. There currently are no shows scheduled for Cleveland. She did perform in Cleveland in August 2017.<\/p>\n
