The former Prince Andrew stopped resisting giving up his royal titles and leaving his Windsor home in order to spare his daughters, according to a new report<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n
King Charles allegedly told his younger brother that his daughters, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, would be able to keep their royal titles when his were taken away, the Daily Mail <\/em>reports<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n Both princesses have recently stepped out with new royal duties in an apparent show of support from the King to his nieces<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n Amid the fallout of Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor<\/a>‘s royal exile, sources say the former Prince Andrew finally stopped dragging his heels<\/a> on giving up his titles and home \u2014 largely to protect his daughters, Princess Beatrice<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Princess Eugenie<\/a>.<\/p>\n Since Buckingham Palace announced that King Charles<\/a> would strip his younger brother of his royal titles<\/a>, including \u201cprince,\u201d questions have swirled over the future of Andrew\u2019s family.<\/p>\n It was reportedly promises about Beatrice and Eugenie\u2019s royal futures that motivated Andrew to give up the fight over his titles and his residence at Royal Lodge<\/a> in Windsor, according to a new report from the Daily Mail<\/a>.<\/p>\n PEOPLE has reached out to Buckingham Palace for comment.<\/p>\n “It was made clear to Andrew that, while his ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson<\/a>, would also lose her title, there would be no action taken against their daughters, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie,” the Mail<\/em> reported on Nov. 13.<\/p>\n Additionally, the publication claims that the King promised Andrew that his daughters would also be “allowed to accept new official royal roles” as he lost the remainder of his official status.<\/p>\n This was quickly proven to be true. On Nov. 7, Princess Beatrice joined her uncle\u00a0Prince Edward<\/a> at a special event for Outward Bound<\/a>, a U.K.-based charity that helps children of all backgrounds grow through exposure to nature and outdoor adventures.<\/p>\n There, Beatrice, who has previously served as a trustee for the organization, was named its new Deputy Patron<\/a> under Edward, who follows his father and the former Duke of Edinburgh, the late\u00a0Prince Philip<\/a>, as Royal Patron of the organization.<\/p>\n Meanwhile, Princess Eugenie mentored peers<\/a> at a Nov. 11 event as part of The King’s Foundation<\/a>‘s 35th anniversary year commemorations.<\/p>\n “Andrew had been dragging his heels. They had to take constitutional advice and legal advice and over the lease on Royal Lodge,”\u00a0Queen Elizabeth<\/a>‘s former press secretary, Ailsa Anderson, previously told PEOPLE<\/a>. “They had to get all the dots on I\u2019s and T\u2019s crossed before they made this announcement.”<\/p>\n “It must be mixed emotions for him. That is why this has taken such a long time. It is family and monarchy, and when the lines are blurred, it\u2019s very difficult for them,” she said of the King.<\/p>\n The news of Andrew’s royal exile came with the understanding that Beatrice and Eugenie would\u00a0retain their royal titles<\/a>\u00a0in accordance with King George V\u2019s Letters Patent of 1917. As they are daughters of a son of a sovereign, they both remain princesses and will continue to have the styling of Her Royal Highness.<\/p>\n However, royal biographer Ingrid Seward believes that these events indicate that the King is committed to supporting his nieces through “a hideous time.”<\/p>\n \u201cI think that Charles feels quite responsible for these two girls,” she told The Sun<\/em>. “I know they\u2019ve got supportive husbands, but they\u2019ve both got young children, and I think it\u2019s been very, very difficult.”<\/p>\n \u201cThey\u2019re actually part of the royal family, and they can do their bit, which I think is important to them,” she added.<\/p>\n Can’t get enough of PEOPLE’s Royals coverage?
