After the success of Season 1, fans began requesting additional cartoons featuring these characters, which would create an interconnected animated universe of Marvel shows. Now, though, it\u2019s sadly clear that Disney has no intention of fulfilling their fans\u2019 biggest request.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"mb-4 text-lg font-bold\"><strong>The Original MCU<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\"><em>X-Men \u201897<\/em> is a continuation of <em>X-Men: The Animated Series<\/em>, and that earlier show\u2019s success led to the creation of an interconnected universe of cartoons. This started with the very successful <em>Spider-Man: The Animated Series<\/em> and led to shorter-lived series like <em><a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"link \" href=\"https:\/\/www.giantfreakinrobot.com\/topic\/fantastic-four\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:Fantastic Four;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\">Fantastic Four<\/a><\/em>, <em>Iron Man<\/em>, and <em>The Incredible Hulk<\/em>. Now, <em>X-Men \u201897<\/em> very explicitly serves as a continuation of <em>X-Men: The Animated Series<\/em>, which means that all of those older shows are still connected to the new one. So when you see characters like Spidey and Iron Man in <em>X-Men \u201897<\/em>, you are technically seeing the same characters that we older nerds were all vibing out to in the \u201890s.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"mb-4 text-lg font-bold\"><strong>The Fans Have Spoken<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Once <em>X-Men \u201897<\/em> proved to be a monster hit, it didn\u2019t take long for fans to demand that <em>Spider-Man: The Animated Series<\/em> get its own high-profile revival. It\u2019s only fitting, as Spider-Man is arguably the most popular Marvel character, and there\u2019s plenty of nostalgia for his own adorably cheesy \u201890s show. This would allow for the animated equivalent of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, with characters regularly making more extensive cameos in each other\u2019s shows. Furthermore, this would lead to more major storytelling opportunities for Disney\u2019s writers while making this interconnected universe feel just as robust and lived-in as the world of Marvel comics.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"mb-4 text-lg font-bold\"><strong>Disney Ignored Fans\u2019 Biggest Request<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Sadly, though, <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"link \" href=\"https:\/\/www.giantfreakinrobot.com\/topic\/disney\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:Disney;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\">Disney<\/a> has shown no indication that it plans to deliver on fans\u2019 hopes for a shared cartoon universe. We\u2019ve gotten many excellent animated series since <em>X-Men \u201897<\/em> dropped, including <em>Eyes of Wakanda<\/em>, <em><a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"link \" href=\"https:\/\/www.giantfreakinrobot.com\/topic\/Your-Friendly-Neighborhood-Spider-Man\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\">Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man<\/a><\/em>, and the miniseries <em>Marvel Zombies<\/em>. But the fact that we haven\u2019t heard so much as an <strong>announcement<\/strong> about reviving <em>Spider-Man: The Animated Series<\/em> seems like definitive proof that we won\u2019t be getting the interconnected animated universe fans have been demanding for over a year.
