Hop in the comments and tell us: What new music are you listening to?<\/em><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Bill Callahan returned this week, not just with the news of a new album but the first taste of what we can expect from it. \u201cThe Man I\u2019m Supposed To Be\u201d is classic Callahan, with a creeping, plucked guitar line supporting a plaintive, almost-spoken vocal line before building with strings and shredded electronic fuzz. Callahan\u2019s album <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">My Days Of 58 <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">will arrive on February 27, 2026, and \u201cThe Man I\u2019m Supposed To Be\u201d sure sounds like a statement of purpose to start the album cycle off. [Drew Gillis]\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><\/p>\n<div class=\"jeg_video_container jeg_video_content\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Jenny on Holiday - Good Intentions (Official Video)\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/AMjzschq6s4?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p>Jenny On Holiday\u2014the solo project of Jenny Hollingsworth, who was previously one half of electropop duo Let\u2019s Eat Grandma\u2014announced her debut solo album earlier this year, and she continues to whet our appetites with \u201cGood Intentions.\u201d Her last single, \u201cDolphins,\u201d was more of a ballad, \u201cGood Intentions\u201d matches Hollingsworth\u2019s celestial vocal with some synthpop production that wouldn\u2019t be out of place on a Robyn or Chvrches record. The first Jenny On Holiday album, <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Quicksand Heart<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, arrives on January 9. Instead, \u201cDOOMTOWN,\u201d the explosive new single from Montreal outfit NOBRO, sits with its angst, inviting both the band and their listeners to do battle with their personal demons. \u201cLike all of us wrestling with the stinging, senseless pain of existence, they have to feel their way out\u2014and that\u2019s exactly what they\u2019re going to do,\u201d a statement about the churning single reads. \u201cDOOMTOWN\u201d is the band\u2019s first release since their 2023 album <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Set Your Pussy Free <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">won a Juno Award (aka a Canadian Grammy), and it\u2019s a hell of a return. [Emma Keates]<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Finally Over It<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, Summer Walker<\/span><\/h2>\n<div class=\"jeg_video_container jeg_video_content\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Summer Walker - Baller feat. GloRilla, Monaleo, Sexyy Red\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/PNikG-aFnkA?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In 2019, Summer Walker was <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Over It<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">; in 2021, she was <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Still Over It<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">; in 2025, she is <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Finally Over It<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, which suggests she might not have been quite as over it in the first place as she wanted us to believe. With the third and final entry into the trilogy, Walker created a double album, split into a \u201cFor Better\u201d half and a \u201cFor Worse\u201d half. \u201cFor Better\u201d is lush and notably indebted to the best of 1990s\/early 2000s R&amp;B; within the first few tracks, Walker flips samples from Beyonc\u00e9\u2019s \u201cYes\u201d and Mariah Carey\u2019s \u201cAlways Be My Baby.\u201d In the \u201cFor Worse\u201d section, Walker taps rappers like Sexyy Red, GloRilla, 21 Savage, and more for a section that\u2019s a bit higher energy with tracks like \u201cBaller,\u201d but no less lush. [DG]\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">High Up In The Trees<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, The Webstirs<\/span><\/h2>\n<div class=\"jeg_video_container jeg_video_content\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"The Webstirs - Roulette (Official Video)\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/q8u5Elq3bc4?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p><!-- admarker --> <\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There\u2019s more to <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">High Up In The Trees<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, the seventh album from Chicago indie rockers The Webstirs, than meets the eye. Twinkly bop \u201cRoulette,\u201d for example, is \u201cactually based on a childhood friend who\u2019s in prison for accidentally killing someone in a game of Russian roulette,\u201d vocalist Preston Pisellini revealed in a statement. The album is also underscored by another tragic event: the death of Fountains Of Wayne frontman Adam Schlesinger, who died of COVID in 2020 and whose influence can be heard across \u201cRoulette\u201d and fellow lead single, \u201cWhen It\u2019s Gone.\u201d \u201cHe was a brilliant songwriter,\u201d Pisellini said, sharing that he \u201c[wrote] a couple of tunes as an attempt to pay him some tribute.\u201d What isn\u2019t under the surface in this album, however, is its catchy hooks and satisfying, multi-part harmonies, honed over the band\u2019s nearly three-decade career. [EK]<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Eusexua Afterglow<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, fka twigs<\/span><\/h2>\n<div class=\"jeg_video_container jeg_video_content\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"FKA twigs - Predictable Girl\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/H13rI_6FypA?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It hasn\u2019t even been a year since fka twigs\u2019 last album, <\/span><a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.avclub.com\/fka-twigs-eusexua-review\"><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Eusexua<\/span><\/i><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, arrived, but the artist is keeping it moving. Despite what its title and timing might suggest, <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Eusexua Afterglow <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">is not a deluxe edition of twigs\u2019 previous album but a whole new one entirely. That being said, they are obviously closely related, with both focused on the kind of experiences you can only have during a night out.
