After taking over the world, Labubu are seemingly headed to the big screen.<\/p>\n
A feature film on the adorable, ugly monster dolls that have become a trendy phenomenon across the world is in the works after Sony reportedly acquired the movie rights, according to Deadline<\/a> and The Hollywood Reporter<\/a>.<\/p>\n Development is very much in the early stages with no writer or director attached to the project, the outlets reported. It’s unclear whether the movie will be animated or live-action.<\/p>\n USA TODAY has reached out to Sony, which declined to comment to Deadline and THR.<\/p>\n Hong Kong-born illustrator Kasing Lung designed Labubu in 2015 based on Nordic mythology, according to parent company Pop Mart.
