Elizabeth Franz<\/a>, who received a Tony Award for her unusual, forceful turn as the wife of Brian Dennehy<\/a>\u2019s Willy Loman<\/a> in a 50th anniversary production of Arthur Miller<\/a>\u2019s Death of a Salesman, has died. She was 84.<\/p>\n

Franz<\/a> died Nov. 4 at her home in Woodbury, Connecticut, after a battle with cancer, her husband, screenwriter Christopher Pelham<\/a>, told The New York Times.<\/p>\n

Franz also landed Tony noms in 1983 and 2002, respectively, for portraying Kate Jerome (Matthew Broderick<\/a>\u2019s mom) in Neil Simon<\/a>\u2019s Brighton Beach Memoirs<\/a> and the youngest of four sisters (Piper Laurie<\/a>, Frances Sternhagen<\/a> and Estelle Parsons<\/a> were her siblings) in a revival of Paul Osborn<\/a>\u2019s Morning\u2019s at Seven.<\/p>\n
