Kiss paid tribute to Ace Frehley before the band\u2019s first show since the death<\/a> of their former guitarist in October.<\/p>\n Speaking before the band\u2019s first KISS Kruise: Landlocked In Vegas on Friday, Paul Stanley addressed the crowd about the late Spaceman<\/a>.<\/p>\n More from Rolling Stone<\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cObviously, before we get going \u2014 and we\u2019re going to have an awesome time \u2014 we just wanted to take a moment to think about about somebody who was at the foundation of this band. And we\u2019re talking about Ace,\u201d Stanley said.<\/p>\n \u201cWe certainly had differences, but that\u2019s what family is about.\u00a0Why don\u2019t we take a moment, little quiet, and think about him looking down on us \u2013\u00a0from [the planet] Jendell<\/a>, probably \u2013 and let\u2019s have a moment for Ace.\u201d<\/p>\n Following a moment of silence, the crowd outside the Virgin Hotels broke into a chant of \u201cAce! Ace! Ace!\u201d while Stanley encouraged them to hold plastic candles in the air to honor the guitarist.<\/p>\n Frehley died Oct. 16 at the age of 74 from injuries he sustained in a fall<\/a>. \u201cOur hearts are broken. Ace has passed on. No one can touch Ace\u2019s legacy.\u201d Simmons said in a statement at the time. \u201cI know he loved the fans. He told me many times. Sadder still, Ace didn\u2019t live long enough to be honored at the Kennedy Ctr Honors event<\/a> in Dec. Ace was the eternal rock soldier. Long may his legacy live on!\u201d<\/p>\n Although Kiss\u2019 touring reign ended with a farewell show at Madison Square Garden<\/a>, the band\u2019s final lineup \u2014 Gene Simmons, Paul Stanley, guitarist Tommy Thayer, and drummer Eric Singer \u2014 announced plans to reunite<\/a> without all the makeup and theatrics for the KISS Kruise: Landlocked In Vegas this November.<\/p>\n \u201cHere we are.
