Hartford Foundation and Well Ahead, will host a free community screening of the powerful documentary &#8220;My Mama Joe: Hope &amp; Help,&#8221; a film illustrating the journey of caregiving, dementia and generational strength from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Nov. 18 at\u00a0Manship Theatre, 100 Lafayette St., Baton Rouge.<\/p>\n<p>Attendees will enjoy free popcorn and a complimentary drink while they enjoy the film, followed by a moderated expert panel featuring Louisiana Alzheimer\u2019s Association Executive Director Delores Hurst and Dr. Robert Newton, senior scientist at Pennington Biomedical Research Center, who will discuss brain health, early detection, healthy aging and local resources for caregivers in Southwest Louisiana.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<div data-breakout=\"3\" style=\"position:relative;\">\n<div class=\"col-md-8\">\n<p>In addition to the film and panel, guests will receive resource information, guidance on local supports and insight into programs available to help families impacted by memory loss.<\/p>\n<p>While the event is free, registration is requested to ensure capacity accommodations. The annual event invites cyclists of all levels to hit the streets of Baton Rouge for a bicycle-powered food drive benefiting the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank.<\/p>\n<p>Part bike ride, part food drive and part scavenger hunt, Cranksgiving transforms an ordinary day of cycling into an opportunity to give back. Riders are provided with a list of local grocery stores where they\u2019ll purchase nonperishable food items, then return to Electric Depot to donate what they\u2019ve collected.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<div data-breakout=\"4\" style=\"position:relative;\">\n<div class=\"col-md-8\">\n<p>The ride combines fun, community and a shared commitment to helping local families in need during the holiday season.<\/p>\n<p>Cranksgiving began in New York City in 1999 and has since spread to cities across the country. Each event is locally organized and open to riders of all experience levels. The Baton Rouge version started in 2016 and was organized by Bike Baton Rouge.<\/p>\n<p>The event is free and open to the public, and there is no registration fee. Participants simply bring their own bicycles and plan to spend around $30 purchasing food to donate.
