‘All American: The Brice Taylor Story’ screening<\/h3>\n

Sadowski Sport Films, Inc.\u00a0will hold a special screening of the inspiring documentary, “All American: The Brice Taylor Story,” at 10 a.m. Nov. 17 at Southern University in Allan Hall, Room 313.<\/p>\n

The film will be shown on the very campus where Brice Union Taylor \u2014 USC\u2019s first All-American football player and a trailblazing civil rights pioneer \u2014 served as head football coach and athletic director, led Southern to its first undefeated season and laid the foundation for the historic Bayou Classic rivalry.<\/p>\n

‘My Mama Joe: Hope and Help’ documentary screening<\/h3>\n

The Mama Joe Project, in partnership with the Alzheimer\u2019s Association Louisiana Chapter, AARP Louisiana, The John A. Hartford Foundation and Well Ahead, will host a free community screening of the powerful documentary “My Mama Joe: Hope & Help,” a film illustrating the journey of caregiving, dementia and generational strength from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Nov. 18 at\u00a0Manship Theatre, 100 Lafayette St., Baton Rouge.<\/p>\n

Attendees will enjoy free popcorn and a complimentary drink while they enjoy the film, followed by a moderated expert panel featuring Louisiana Alzheimer\u2019s Association Executive Director Delores Hurst and Dr. Robert Newton, senior scientist at Pennington Biomedical Research Center, who will discuss brain health, early detection, healthy aging and local resources for caregivers in Southwest Louisiana.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n

In addition to the film and panel, guests will receive resource information, guidance on local supports and insight into programs available to help families impacted by memory loss.<\/p>\n

Cranksgiving Baton Rouge\u00a0<\/h3>\n

Cranksgiving Baton Rouge begins at 10 a.m. Nov. 23 at Electric Depot, 1509 Government St, Baton Rouge. The annual event invites cyclists of all levels to hit the streets of Baton Rouge for a bicycle-powered food drive benefiting the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank.<\/p>\n

Part bike ride, part food drive and part scavenger hunt, Cranksgiving transforms an ordinary day of cycling into an opportunity to give back. Riders are provided with a list of local grocery stores where they\u2019ll purchase nonperishable food items, then return to Electric Depot to donate what they\u2019ve collected.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n

The ride combines fun, community and a shared commitment to helping local families in need during the holiday season.<\/p>\n

Cranksgiving began in New York City in 1999 and has since spread to cities across the country. Each event is locally organized and open to riders of all experience levels. The Baton Rouge version started in 2016 and was organized by Bike Baton Rouge.<\/p>\n

The event is free and open to the public, and there is no registration fee. Participants simply bring their own bicycles and plan to spend around $30 purchasing food to donate. Participants should have some way to safely carry groceries with them on their bikes.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n
