British singer-songwriter Olivia Dean debuted on Saturday Night Live<\/em> by performing two songs from her second studio album, The Art of Loving<\/a><\/em>, which came out in September.<\/p>\n Dean, who was just nominated<\/a> for Best New Artist at next year\u2019s Grammys, led off with \u201cMan I Need<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n More from Rolling Stone<\/strong><\/p>\n The song \u201cis about knowing how you deserve to be loved and not being afraid to ask for it,\u201d Dean said in statement upon its release earlier this year. \u201cIt\u2019s forward, sexy, fun! It\u2019s made for dancing!\u201d<\/p>\n Dean wrote \u201cMan I Need\u201d with Zach Nahome and Tobias Jesso Jr., the winner of the 2023 Grammy for Songwriter of the Year. He is nominated for that award again this year.<\/p>\n Dean\u2019s second performance was of \u201cLet Alone the One You Love,\u201d the sixth track off her latest album.<\/p>\n \u201cWe made most of this album in a studio we built in a house in East London,\u201d the 26-year-old wrote on Instagram teasing it. \u201cFor 8 weeks we lived in the house of loving! I brought my piano from home and all my favourite people and tried to create things that felt like warmth. Here you have a piece of my heart!\u201d<\/p>\n The Art of Loving<\/em> has been widely praised.<\/p>\n \u201cDean\u2019s star power is radiant and fueled by more than just charisma. She grooves in perfect time with an expertly assembled band, navigating through blaring trumpets, trombones, and saxophones with a delicate attention to detail and synchronicity,\u201d Rolling Stone<\/em>\u2018s Larisha Paul wrote in a review<\/a> of the follow-up to 2023\u2019s Messy<\/em>.<\/p>\n On Friday, Dean announced dates for<\/a> her 14-city The Art of Loving<\/em> tour, which begins next July in San Francisco, California. She\u2019ll work her way to the east coast before wrapping up in Austin, Texas in late August.<\/p>\n In the last few weeks, Dean was the opener on Sabrina Carpenter\u2019s Short n\u2019 Sweet<\/em> tour.
