Goldie Hawn is embarking on a new career venture, teaming up with Lin Oliver to convey a message of kindness to children.<\/p>\n
The Washington, D.C.<\/a> native, 79, and Oliver, 78, are releasing an upcoming book series, The After-School Kindness Crew. The series, aimed at readers ages 8 to 12, is described by publisher Penguin Workshop as being \u201cabout friendship, community and the power of kindness, encouraging readers to take breaks and deep breaths as they read along.\u201d<\/p>\n The first installment, The After-School Kindness Crew #1: Pooch on the Loose, is scheduled to hit shelves next spring.<\/p>\n The story follows Tony, Mia, and River, three students in Ms. Gold\u2019s fourth-grade classroom who form the After-School Kindness Crew. Their goal is to bring joy to those around them.<\/p>\n The book explores the origins of the crew and a day packed with adventures. According to the synopsis, \u201cFrom an escaped snake to a rowdy dog let loose from his cage to disguises slipped on to save the day, the hijinks and humor continue from start to finish.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n A unique feature of the series is the incorporation of \u201cbrain breaks,\u201d designed to give young readers moments to pause, breathe, and be mindful while enjoying the story.<\/p>\n In a statement shared with People, Hawn<\/a> said, \u201cI wanted to create these relatable stories to remind children of the power of kindness, while giving them moments of laughter and calm.\u201d She added, \u201cThe brain breaks woven throughout each book invite children to pause, breathe, and reconnect with joy. What could be better?\u201d<\/p>\n Hawn\u2019s commitment to children\u2019s wellbeing extends beyond her writing.
