Online<\/a><\/p>\n Glen Powell<\/a><\/strong>\u2019s Saturday Night Live<\/a><\/em> hosting debut was years in the making.<\/p>\n During his opening monologue on the Nov. 15 episode of the NBC sketch comedy series, the Top Gun: Maverick <\/em>star revealed he was previously scheduled to handle MC duties in 2021 to coincide with the release of the action movie. However, things changed when the film was rescheduled to hit theatres in May 2022.<\/p>\n \u201cTop Gun<\/em> got delayed because of COVID, so SNL<\/em> had to take their offer back,\u201d Glen explained. \u201cLorne Michaels<\/strong> literally called me and said, \u2018Without Top Gun<\/em>\u2019\u2014and these are his words\u2014\u2018no one will know who the F you are.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n But Glen, 37, admitted he jumped the gun prior to the cancellation, excitedly telling a UPS delivery driver about the career milestone moments after receiving the offer.
