Michael J. Fox <\/strong>and Tracy Pollan<\/strong> are sharing the key to a lasting marriage \u2014 and it\u2019s as simple as laughter.<\/p>\n While attending the A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to Cure Parkinson\u2019s<\/em> gala in New York City on Saturday, November 15, Pollan, 65, told PEOPLE<\/em><\/a> the heartwarming advice she and her husband gave their eldest son, Sam Fox<\/strong>, before he tied the knot with his longtime love, Molly Milstein<\/strong>.<\/p>\n \u201cThe one thing actually that I would say that’s the most important thing is find something to laugh about together every day, if you can,\u201d Pollan said. \u201cYou know what, we just take it one day at a time and it’s worked.\u201d<\/p>\n It\u2019s clear the actress speaks from experience. Fox has often credited Pollan as his anchor through life\u2019s toughest challenges, including his Parkinson\u2019s diagnosis, which he\u2019s had since 1991. \u201cOne of the things I\u2019ll always love Tracy for is that at that moment [of my diagnosis], she didn\u2019t blink,\u201d he said during a 2020 appearance on Today<\/em><\/a>.<\/em> \u201cShe\u2019s there in the front lines with me every single day.\u201d<\/p>\n Fox also reflected on his relationship<\/a> with Pollan while promoting his memoir Future Boy<\/em>. \u201cShe\u2019s my best friend, my partner,\u201d the Back to the Future<\/em> star<\/a> told PEOPLE <\/em>back in October. \u201cTracy\u2019s the first person I check in with and the last person I check in with.\u201d<\/p>\n While appearing on The View<\/em><\/a> that same month, the Doc Hollywood <\/em>actor reflected on the journey surrounding his early diagnosis, admitting it initially sent him into a battle with self doubt. \u201cI got diagnosed, I went into a serious tailspin and really had a hard time. My family, I kind of wasn\u2019t there for them and I was drinking a lot and just bad,\u201d he revealed. Still, he refused to let it define him, and ended up telling the public about his diagnosis seven years later.<\/p>\n Since then, he\u2019s been leading The Michael J.
