Actor Francesca Scorsese<\/strong>, daughter of filmmaker Martin Scorsese<\/strong>, admitted \u201cit was a little intimidating\u201d working with her pop on the new season of Martin Scorsese Presents: The Saints,\u00a0<\/em>which debuted on Fox Nation on Sunday.<\/p>\n Both Scorseses dished on the new season<\/a> during a discussion at the Whitby Hotel in New York City on Monday.<\/p>\n \u201cI felt like it was kind of a homework assignment. I had to like turn it in at the end of the day \u2014 and see if I got any good feedback,\u201d Francesca Scorsese said, drawing a little laugh from her dad.<\/p>\n Francesca Scorsese made her directorial debut during the show\u2019s second season with an episode chronicling Saint Carlo Acutis<\/strong>, a 15-year-old who died from leukemia in 2006; he was recently canonized<\/a> by Pope Leo as the first Millennial saint.<\/p>\n \u201cI did a lot of preparation. I storyboarded everything,\u201d she added. \u201cIt was really, really cool to see all that come to light and actually, like, on the screen in front of me.\u201d<\/p>\n The 82-year-old Scorsese also gave kudos to his 26-year-old daughter on her episode.<\/p>\n \u201cThere\u2019s something about the meditative nature of the Carlo episode, especially the second half of it,\u201d he told her. \u201cI was very pleased to see how you were specifically framing the characters by that point. It wasn\u2019t frantic in any way. The pace was very spiritual.\u201d<\/p>\n The first season of The Saints\u00a0<\/em>hit Fox Nation, the Fox News-aligned streaming service, last year. Based on the name, you can probably guess that it focuses on one of the key themes in Martin Scorsese\u2019s work \u2014 Catholicism.<\/p>\n Scorsese, during the NYC discussion, said his faith has been part of his work since the \u201cvery beginning.\u201d<\/p>\n He also reflected on the early development of his faith, while growing up in the Big Apple:<\/p>\n \u201cWhen I was about eight or nine, when I was first introduced into St. Patrick\u2019s Old Cathedral\u2026 There was one particular priest who was really important, a young man. He gave a good example,\u201d Martin Scorsese said. \u201cHe said, \u2018This is the way people should be.\u2019 Around me, there were maybe not the best examples. Made for interesting storytelling, but they weren\u2019t the best examples of how to live, I can tell you. So, this guy was amazing.<\/p>\n \u201cSo you see good and bad all in the same person. It\u2019s a very confusing thing for the trauma of that time of your childhood. And so, yes, I mean, I\u2019ve always been fascinated by what makes us \u2014 what makes us what we are.<\/p>\n \u201cWhat is deep down, what are we, good or bad?
