Trey Anastasio Band<\/strong> hit the stage in Denver, CO on Friday and Saturday to kick off a 12-show 2025 fall tour. The two sold-out shows featured a total of three new originals (\u201cReal You\u201d and \u201cMindless Mood\u201d on 11\/14 and \u201cSimeon\u201d on 11\/15) and saw a pair of classic Phish<\/strong> compositions (\u201cStash\u201d and \u201cThe Lizards\u201d) return to the live TAB rotation after long absences.<\/p>\n In addition to Trey Anastasio<\/strong> (guitar, vocals), whose last tour was a solo acoustic trek earlier this year, and Russ Lawton<\/strong> (drums), Dezron Douglas<\/strong> (bass), and Ray Paczkowski<\/strong> (keys), who in 2024 toured with Trey as Classic TAB<\/strong>, the band features longtime members Cyro Baptista<\/strong> (percussion), Natalie Cressman<\/strong> (trombone, vocals), and Jennifer Hartswick<\/strong> (trumpet, vocals) as well as new tenor saxophonist\/vocalist Kenneth Whalum<\/strong>, whose C.V. is a long, genre-crossing list of notable artists. Whalum arrived in Denver for TAB tour on the heels of an eventful month during which he did everything from performing with Sabrina Carpenter on Saturday Night Live<\/em><\/a> and to honoring Sly Stone, OutKast, and more with all-star ensembles at the recent Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony<\/a>.<\/p>\n On Friday night, Trey Anastasio Band got the tour started on a high note with the first TAB take on Phish stalwart \u201cStash\u201d in nearly two decades (last played 12\/30\/06). Late in the set, following a searing \u201cBlaze On\u201d, Anastasio and company debuted the first new song of the run, the shuffling, motivational \u201cReal You\u201d. An explosive, set-closing rendition of reliable jam vehicle \u201cWhat\u2019s Going Through Your Mind\u201d was accompanied by spirals of light and color courtesy of Mission Ballroom\u2019s high-tech, LED disco ball.<\/p>\n Friday\u2019s second set opened with the intertwining horns of \u201cShine\u201d before coming down on a jazzy \u201cWolfman\u2019s Brother\u201d improv session and a quick-footed \u201cLast Tube\u201d.
