Emily Simpson<\/strong><\/a> is offering fans an update amid son Luke\u2019s health journey, in which he underwent a laser brain procedure.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe did [undergo his procedure],\u201d Simpson, 49, exclusively told Us Weekly<\/em> <\/a>on Saturday, November 15, while attending BravoCon 2025<\/a> in Las Vegas. \u201cI didn\u2019t see a lot of a difference, so we\u2019re still investigating other things and working with a specialist, and we\u2019re going to try some different things.\u201d<\/p>\n

Emily \u2014 who shares son Luke, 10, with husband Shane Simpson<\/strong> \u2014 explained that the purpose of the laser is \u201cto reduce the swelling in the brain.\u201d (The couple are also parents to Annabelle, 12, and Keller, 10.)<\/p>\n

\u201cIt needs to be ongoing,\u201d Emily noted of her son\u2019s treatment. \u201cHe\u2019s done a couple rounds, which hasn\u2019t made that big of a difference. So the question is, do we continue forward, or do we try something different?\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tEmily Simpson is setting the record straight on one cruel assumption surrounding her son\u2019s eating disorder. \u201cI have to say, I\u2019ve had some people say negative things about the eating disorder, and they\u2019ll make a correlation between me having surgery or me losing weight,\u201d Emily, 49, exclusively shared with Us Weekly on Wednesday, July 16, [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Through it all, Emily shared that she\u2019s been receiving unwavering support from moms across the country.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe moms out there are incredible,\u201d Emily said. \u201cI get so many DMS with recommendations and stories and so thank you to the moms.\u201d<\/p>\n

Emily shared earlier this month that Luke would be undergoing the procedure<\/a> after he was diagnosed with pediatric autoimmune neuropsychiatric disorders. (The Cleveland Clinic notes that PANDAS is a \u201cgroup of conditions thought to affect select children who\u2019ve strep infections.\u201d)<\/p>\n

\u201cYeah, so he is going to have a laser treatment on his brain,\u201d Emily told Andy Cohen during the Real Housewives of Orange County reunion earlier this month when asked about a treatment plan, per People.<\/p>\n

She continued, \u201cTo reduce the swelling in his brain. He asked if the laser would hurt, and I said, \u2018No, it won\u2019t hurt.\u2019 So he has to go five days in a row for like three hours, and it\u2019s supposed to reduce the swelling.\u201d<\/p>\n

During the Thursday, July 10, episode of The Real Housewives of Orange County, Emily, 49, revealed that her 10-year-old son, Luke, was recently diagnosed with avoidant restrictive food intake disorder (ARFID). \u201cLuke has always been a picky eater, but it\u2019s [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Emily has been candid about her son\u2019s ongoing health issues<\/a>. In July, The Real Housewives of Orange County<\/em> premiere revealed that Luke was diagnosed with avoidant restrictive food intake disorder. (The Mayo Clinic defines ARFID as an eating disorder which is common among children and young adolescents, with extreme picky eating and a general lack of interest in eating that gets worse over time.)<\/p>\n

\u201cLuke has always been a picky eater, but it\u2019s gotten to the point over the last year where he just doesn\u2019t eat at all,\u201d Emily shared in a confessional at the time. \u201cHe doesn\u2019t eat anything but he\u2019s starving. I\u2019m worried that he\u2019s not getting the nutrition that he needs. I\u2019m worried that he\u2019s the weird kid at school that doesn\u2019t eat, and everybody\u2019s going to make fun of him. I want my child to be happy. That\u2019s it.\u201d<\/p>\n
