The title of the season 2 premiere, \u201cDeath and a Sunset,\u201d suggests that the action will pick up right where season 1 left off: with the death of M-Tex Oil owner and CEO, Monty Miller (Jon Ham). <\/p>\n
M-Tex landman and fixer Tommy Norris (Billy Bob Thornton), who was promoted to President after Monty\u2019s passing, advised Monty\u2019s widow, Cami Miller (Demi Moore), to sell the company. But Cami isn\u2019t interested in walking away.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhy don\u2019t you let me sell this thing?\u201d Tommy asks Cami in the season 2 trailer<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cI want success. Get it for me,\u201d Cami replies. <\/p>\n Not only is Tommy navigating his new role as President, he\u2019s also dealing with cartel boss Gallino (Andy Garcia) and family drama. After getting back together with his ex-wife, Angela (Ali Larter), during season 1, the couple\u2019s dynamic is as tumultuous as ever in season 2. Angela throws a plate of food at Tommy\u2019s head in the trailer. <\/p>\n We\u2019ll also meet Tommy\u2019s father, T.L. (Sam Elliott), in the new episodes. <\/p>\n \u201cWe\u2019ve avoided telling each other the truth for a long time. Let\u2019s not start now,\u201d Tommy tells his dad in the teaser. <\/p>\n \u201cLandman\u201d creator Taylor Sheridan recently inked a five-year development deal with NBCUniversal, leaving some fans with questions about the future of his Paramount+ shows<\/a>. [Taylor\u2019s] deal is for the future,\u201d Thornton told The Hollywood Reporter <\/a>on the red carpet. \u201cTaylor is a brilliant guy, and I\u2019m sure wherever he goes, whatever he does is gonna be successful.\u201d<\/p>\n Elliott echoed Thornton\u2019s sentiments, noting that Sheridan\u2019s new venture won\u2019t \u201cimpact the future\u201d of \u201cLandman.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cEverything that Taylor had at Paramount is gonna stay at Paramount. It\u2019s not like he\u2019s taking it [to NBC],\u201d Elliott explained. \u201cThe [NBCU] thing, as I understand, it\u2019s a whole new deal. So, it\u2019s just great for Taylor\u2019s world.
