Glen Powell<\/strong>, known for starring alongside Tom Cruise<\/strong> in Top Gun: Maverick, has returned to the action genre in Edgar Wright\u2019s action thriller The Running Man<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n Now, in a recent sit-down with The Hollywood Reporter, Glen Powell shares that before filming began, Cruise shared his experience on staying safe during physically demanding sequences, giving Powell what he jokingly called a crash course in \u201chow not to die\u201d while performing action scenes at night.<\/p>\n Powell recently opened up to The Hollywood Reporter<\/a> about how much Tom Cruise\u2019s advice helped him handle the movie\u2019s intense stunts. \u00a0\u201cMost of the advice I got [from Cruise] was really just about how not to die on this movie.\u201d<\/p>\n Powell went on to explain that Cruise\u2019s years of action movie experience made him the perfect go-to for safety advice, especially for tricky night shoots and running sequences. Powell added he\u2019s grateful Cruise is always \u201cone call away\u201d whenever he needs guidance.<\/p>\n \u201cMost of the advice I got [from Cruise] was really just about how not to die on this movie,\u201d Powell said. \u201cThe reality is there\u2019s probably only one person on the planet that can give this type of advice, and it\u2019s him. So the fact that he\u2019s one call away and he\u2019s always willing to pick up, it\u2019s unbelievable.\u201d<\/p>\n Powell shared that Cruise repeatedly warned him about the risks of doing stunts when exhausted. Cruise advised him not to do a few stunts at night when tired, and also stressed that early-morning or late-night shoots make injuries more likely.<\/p>\n \u201cHe was just always telling me,\u00a0\u2018Don\u2019t do some of these stunts late at night when you\u2019re tired.\u2019 He was asking me questions about what the movie was like, and what it looked like, and how it spanned. And I was like, \u2018Yeah, a lot of it is at night,’\u201d Powell explained.<\/p>\n \u201cAnd he was like, \u2018That\u2019s going to be a problem. Your body is extremely tired at night.
