Pharrell<\/strong> was\u00a0honored Friday with the key to\u00a0Miami-Dade County, which was presented to him by\u00a0Mayor Daniella Levine<\/strong>. He received the recognition<\/a> at the fifth annual\u00a0Black Ambition Demo Day for his investment in Black innovation and Black ownership, as well as his impact on nightlife.<\/p>\n \u201cThere\u2019s so much brilliance out there that never gets seen,\u201d Pharrell said, according to the Miami New Times<\/a>. \u201cThat\u2019s why we built Black Ambition, to make sure talent doesn\u2019t stop at potential.\u201d<\/p>\n Pharrell founded Black Ambition in 2020 in an attempt to help “close the opportunity and wealth gap through entrepreneurship,” according to\u00a0its website<\/a>. Its Demo Day brought together “founders, visionaries, investors, and cultural icons for a celebration of Black ambition, underrepresented entrepreneurs, ingenuity, and ownership,” according to a\u00a0press release<\/a>, and\u00a0included the announcement of\u00a0the\u00a02025 Black Ambition Prize winners.<\/a><\/p>\n Twenty-five finalists across fields including health care, media and entertainment, technology and more received over $1 million in funding, as well as access to mentorship, graphic design support and marketing opportunities.<\/p>\n Chance the Rapper<\/strong>\u00a0also appeared as a surprise guest\u00a0and performed at the event.<\/p>\n Copyright \u00a9 2025, ABC Audio.
