Charli XCX has dropped an appropriately dramatic new music video for \u201cChains of Love,\u201d<\/a> the latest single<\/a> from her upcoming album tied to Emerald Fennel\u2019s Wuthering Heights<\/em> adaptation<\/a>.<\/p>\n Directed by C Prinz, the clip finds Charli performing the song in a grand but empty dining hall where she contends with an unseen force that flings cutlery and candlesticks in her direction, and lifts the giant table off the floor. At the cathartic climax, Charli stomps on the glass table, sending up a storm of shards.<\/p>\n More from Rolling Stone<\/strong><\/p>\n Charli released \u201cChains of Love\u201d last week, the song arriving fast on the heels of her other recent single, \u201cHouse,\u201d with John Cale<\/a>. Both songs will appear on the Wuthering Heights<\/em> companion album, which Charli crafted with songwriters\/producers Finn Keane and Justin Raisen. Wuthering Heights<\/em> the movie \u2014 which co-stars Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi \u2014 is set to arrive Feb. 14, 2026, while the album is slated to drop Feb. 13.<\/p>\n In a recent statement, Charli said her approach to the companion album<\/a> was heavily inspired by a quote Cale gave in Todd Haynes\u2019 2021 documentary The Velvet Underground<\/em><\/a>: \u201cOne thing that stuck with me was how John Cale described a key sonic requirement of the Velvet Underground,\u201d she wrote in a note to fans. \u201cThat any song had to be both \u2018elegant and brutal.\u2019 I got really stuck on that phrase. I write it down on my notes app and would pull it up from time to time and think about what he meant.\u201d<\/p>\n Though not technically a solo album, Wuthering Heights<\/em> will be Charli XCX\u2019s first project since her hit 2024 album, Brat<\/a><\/em>.<\/p>\n \u201cAfter being so in the depths of my previous album I was excited to escape into something entirely new, entirely opposite,\u201d she said of embarking on the project after Fennell sent her a copy of the script. \u201cWhen I think of Wuthering Heights<\/em> I think of many things.
